About the Author

Karen P. DePauw, PhD, is vice provost for graduate studies and dean of the graduate school at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. She has been involved with disability sport since 1981 and was on the original USOC Committee on Sports for the Disabled, on which she served for 12 years. She also served on the USOC Task Force on Disability and was a member of the Organizing Committee for the 1996 Paralympic Congress in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. DePauw has served as president of the International Federation on Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA). She is a member of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD); American College of Sports Medicine; National Association for Physical Education in Higher Education (NAPEHE); National Consortium on Physical Education and Recreation for Handicapped (NCPERH); and North American Federation for Adapted Physical Activity. She also serves on the editorial board of Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly. Dr. DePauw enjoys playing golf, cycling, and traveling in her spare time.

Susan J. Gavron, PED, is associate professor emeritus at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She has had a lifelong involvement with people and disabilities in a variety of program formats, including teaching, camping, and sport.
Dr. Gavron has been involved in research of elite athletes with disabilities at the national and international levels. She participated in the research advisory group for the USOC Committee on Sports for the Disabled. She also has extensive programming experience in physical education and leisure for individuals with disabilities. She has received numerous awards for her work and service to the state of Ohio. Recently retired, Dr. Gavron is a firefighter and first responder and enjoys photography, fishing, and reading in her leisure time.

About the Author
Dr Turgut 'Sarp' Sarpkaya is Distinguished Professor at the US Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. He is an internationally recognized authority in fluid mechanics research and was named by Cambridge University as one of the world's one thousand greatest scientists. 'Sarp', as he is known to friends and colleagues, is the recipient of the Turning Goals into Reality Award by NASA, and he was selected Freeman Scholar by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Sarpkaya received his PhD from the University of Iowa, followed by postdoctoral work at MIT. He was the Thomas L. Fawick Distinguished Professor at the University of Nebraska and taught at the University of Manchester. He was named Professor and Chairman of Mechanical Engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School in 1967 and Distinguished Professor in 1975. His research over the past 50 years has covered the spectrum of hydrodynamics. His oscillating flow tunnel and the vortex-breakdown apparatus are two among several unique research facilities he has designed. Sarpkaya has published more than 200 papers and has explored for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) numerous classified projects dealing with the hydrodynamics and hydroacoustics of submarines. He served as chairman of the Executive Committee of the Fluids Engineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics Institute. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Fellow of the ASME, and Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

A partir de los a�os sesenta dos conceptos de literatura radicalmente opuestos dividen el Per� literario; la corrienteindigenista(o literatura comprometida y social) orientada en el folclore y cultura andinos frente a la corrientecriolla,de influencia occidental. La cr�ticacriollaacusa a losindigenistasde un compromiso literario-social a costa de la calidad literaria, mientras que loscriollosser�n tachados de literatoslight,escritores de fr�volo contenido, seg�n la cr�ticaindigenista.Antes de proseguir, es importante subrayar que Vargas Llosa se halla clasificado como autorcriollistay Arguedas comoindigenista1. Ese tipo de clasificaci�n va a ser cuestionada a lo largo del presente trabajo, ya que el punto de partida ideol�gico de ambos autores conduce a una lectura de la obra arguediana diferente. Obviamente ejercemos una interpretaci�n literaria partiendo de la propia subjetividad. Por ello es importante ser conscientes de esa propia subjetividad y afiliaci�n ideol�gica -as� como de la ajena. A lo largo de este escrito pretendemos mostrar -al igual que Vargas Llosa- que la afiliaci�n de Arguedas no es aquella a la que se le ata oficialmente. Vargas Llosa procura relativizar la obra de Arguedas frente a las corrientes indigenistas en boga y se�ala correctamente que Arguedas no es un activista pol�tico literario sino m�s bien un conservador cultural. Tal posici�n indigenista-pol�tica que se transluce en el �ltimo tramo de su obra surge a causa de la presi�n externa. No obstante, Vargas Llosa intenta hacer de Arguedas un militante de su posici�n ideol�gica respecto al concepto de literatura. La lectura e interpretaci�n que hace de �l en su libro “La utop�a arcaica. Jos� Mar�a Arguedas y las ficciones del indigenismo”2parte del concepto de la literatura como ficci�n, concepto diametralmente opuesto al esfuerzo realista de la literatura andina. A nuestro parecer ninguna de ambas clasificaciones es absolutamente aceptable. Por ello hemos estructurado el presente trabajo del siguiente modo: en primer lugar exponemos el concepto de literatura de Arguedas contrapuesto al de la literatura indigenista, a continuaci�n nos dedicamos al concepto literario de Vargas Llosa, sintetizando despu�s la cr�tica que �ste hace del indigenismo y de Arguedas ejecutando por �ltimo una cr�tica a la lectura de Vargas Llosa.

Deceptive marketing

I recently purchased the Kindle version of this book and I have to give it a one because I am unable to give it a zero. The cover leads one to believe that a CD is included and it is even referenced in the book but no such luck. I understand that it is not physically possible to include a CD with a Kindle book but I would expect to be able to download the audio from a website. I contacted Amazon and they informed me that supplemental material is not included with the purchase. They gave me the option of contacting the supplier in England or returning the book. I wrote to the supplier and they suggested that I contact the publisher. At this point, I find myself having to decide whether to keep a book with the equivalent of pages missing or returning it.
