Wisnu Anggoro

Wisnu Anggoro is a Microsoft Certified Professional in C# programming and an experienced C/C++ developer. He has been programming since he was in junior high school, and he started developing computer applications using basic programming in the MS-DOS environment. He has good experience in smart card programming as well as desktop and web application programming, such as designing, developing, and supporting live use applications for SIM Card Operating System Porting, personalization, PC/SC communication, and other smart card applications that require the use of C# and C/C++. He is currently a senior smart card software engineer at Cipta Srigati Lestari (www.cslgroup.co.id), an Indonesian company that specializes in the innovation and technology of smart cards. There, he holds the position of the smart card tools team leader. He has the responsibility of managing the smart card tools team and developing various applications and tools in order to create smart cards that can connect to any computer application. Before this, he worked as a platform engineer at the same company. In this position, he successfully ported the GSM operating system from Tongfang THC20F17BD Chip (MCS51) to Xirka XSTSCSIM864 Chip (MCS51) and the RUIM operating system from Samsung S3FC9xx Chip (ARM) to EMTG97 Chip (MCS51). He also successfully developed a personalization tool for the MIFARE Classic card, a smart card key generator dongle used to activate the operating system based on the ICCID number using its own cryptography algorithm, and various smart card applications. He did this by accessing smart card readers using P/Invoke C#, RESTful applications that use HttpNet and JSON XML serialization in C#, and responsive applications that use multithreading and asynchronous processing in C#. Useful and with very practical attitude, but valuable in explaining the concepts as well

Already had the 1st edition and since I had found it useful, I decided to upgrade to the 2nd edition.
It was a good surprise to find the content is now more polished and a bit better structured.
Overall, the book is valuable if you need to quickly start with boost asio and more generally if you need to get a first grasp at the concepts of asynchronous network programming.
The foundation of the paradigms is well explained and gives you a jump start in using the library, which I found very useful as I was able to apply the concepts and the techniques in a real application in very short time.
The examples are very practical and give you a good starting point upon which you can then improve and customize as you prefer.

Possibly a good reference, but this is definitely not your one-stop Asio guide

This book doesn't do a very great job of explaining concepts in detail, but it does provide some decent examples of using the various components of Asio. Overall it's a pretty decent book and it will certainly help to understand Asio a little better, but honestly, there are much better and more descriptive Asio tutorials available online for free.

Getting started with Boost.Asio

I decided to buy this book, because I just started to work with the Boost libraries and especially the Boost.Asio component.
The book offers a good introduction into basic network concepts and the Boost libraries.
The first chapters are followed by a step-by-step tutorial for a simple first client-server application. The last chapter considers code debugging with GDB.
I think this book is a good starting point for the basic concepts of Boost.Asio and you get a helpful skeleton application for first steps with client-server application realized with C++.

The everybody sin

I have never heard of or read Bob Sorge until now, but this book is well written and simple to understand. It was loaned to me by a friend and I was immediately taken by its straight forward attack of an insidious enemy.

Sorge's precepts are supported by biblical reference, the use of which is plentiful. I see something in Sorge's writing that I like very much. When scripture is brought into the chapter, he often brings clarity to its relevance through explanation and description, i.e., I am not expected to be a theologian to understand how the author wants to apply the information. There are several illustrations from his own life and he is transparent enough to allow for believability.

It seems to me that the book has broad application in humanity as each of us deals with envy. It deals with the Church in this, there are numerous references to the envy taking place between churchmen in each city or region. Whereas many areas are seeing "community building" taking place in their town others are still working to outdo their fellow pastor. Great strength comes to the church through unity of purpose under Christ!

Sorge makes a beautiful summary of what we'd be like minus envy when he says, "When we are rooted, grounded and perfected in love, our sense of identity in God is so profoundly fulfilled that nothing we see with the natural eye can produce an envious response within us. We wish for nothing that anyone else has because we already have everything there is to have- an extravagant, intimate relationship with the Lord of the universe" (pg 132,133).

This is a wonderful grief journal. Almost too nice to write in! It has some wonderful poetry and sayings throughout the journal pages. The intro has tips on how to get the most from journaling - encouraging the expression of emotions.

A precious companion through grief

When my young sister died suddenly, I was devastated. I wandered into a bookstore and somehow found this book. Although it is a journal, I didn't intend to write in the book when I bought it. I just wanted to read the quotes on life, loss and grieving on each page. They really captured my many complex and painful feelings. Now, several years later, I still remember "The presence of that absence is everywhere." The quotes were also short, which helped when grief prevented me from focusing on anything for long.
I did end up writing in the book, and drawing pictures, and inserting stickers and poems she would have liked. It has been my companion through this grief. And now it's a treasured momento with stories of her life and our relationship.
I hope it will be reprinted soon but, if not, it is worth special ordering.

A Lovely Period Piece Read

I really enjoyed this book and was disappointed when it ended. Armand and Olivia were interesting characters. In this time period young ladies were expected to marry at a certain age and set up their own household and start their family. I really liked the fact that her family was so close and I don't think her mother was trying to get rid of her but she had already missed two seasons of coming out and her mother was concerned that because of her wild ways, at that time, she would be labeled a spinster. The close relationship she had with her brothers was sweet and you knew that they all loved her very much. Yes, Armand was a bit of a cad, but his mother, as well wanted him to settle down at age twenty six. Today no one thinks a thing of having their cake at eating too. But he ends up falling in love with Olivia and wants to be with her as a traditional married couple. I hope the author continues with their story as well as her brothers future relationships. This book was very well written and I would recommend it. My only complaint is that is was too short.

THE RAKE AND THE TOMBOY

I enjoyed this quick read and the theatrics of both Lady Olivia and Lord Bainbridge. Neither wanted to marry, but their meddling mothers have different plans. Lord Armand Bainbridge is definitely a rake with a string of willing girls in town, settling down is not in his plans. Lady Olivia Rowley has refused two seasons in London and now her mother has convinced her father that this marriage is in the best interest of their wayward, unladylike, tomboy daughter. The chemistry between Olivia and Armand is electrically charged with both animosity and eventually sexual attraction. The plot kept me captivated and even had moments where I was laughing out loud. The dialog is witty and the interaction between the characters humorous. In the end, maybe mothers do know what is best for their children.

This is such a fun and engaging read!

After Olivia stubbornly refuses to participate in the London season two years in a row, her mother arranges a marriage for her with Armand Bainbridge. Armand is in the same position in that he is being forced to marry in order to secure his inheritance. They are both attractive people who have not conformed to society's norms. They dislike each other upon meeting but cannot deny their attraction. Armand proposes they marry then live separately, in secret, for awhile until they become used to the idea of marriage. However, the more time they spend together, the more they begin to like each other. Armand finds Olivia witty and so different from most young women, but quickly deals with her bad behavior by spanking her. She is shocked but helpless to stop him. Can they live in peace? Can they come to care for each other?

A Shadow Of The Original Film's Passion and Power

Although his work was widely celebrated as brilliant portraits of the 'Average American,' William Inge (1913-1973) was deliberately engmatic, a homosexual man who lived in an era of sexual repression and who played out the consequence of sexual repression through the heterosexual characters he created for the stage in such plays as COME BACK LITTLE SHEBA, PICNIC, BUS STOP, and THE DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, all of which focused on "Average Americans" and found them lonely, uncertain, and sexually strangled. One of his most overt statements, however, was not created for the stage but for the screen: the 1961 SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, which Inge wrote directly for the screen on the recommendation of director Elia Kazan. In an era that favored bedroom farces in comedy and cautious innuendo in drama, the movie was a shocker indeed, condemned by one moral group after another for its portrait of sexuality among 1920s teens caught between double sexual double standards that were still commonplace when the film was released.

In the wake of the film's great critical and box office success, Inge allowed the film to be adapted to the stage by F. Andrew Leslie, an author known for similar stage adaptations of such films as THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY SOXER and LILLIES OF THE FIELD. Not surprisingly, the resulting playscript stays very close to the characters and story that Inge created for the film, which follows the semi-tragic arc of two small-town teenage lovers in the 1920s. Bud is a rich kid, the son of an industrialist whose stocks are part of the 1920s roar; Deenie is a pretty girl from an ordinary home. Both are passionate about each other and hungry for sex, but both are railroaded by ways in which society and their parents force them into the mores of the day.

Much of the focus is on Deenie, a pretty girl from an average home who has been taught by her mother that sexual arousal is not a thing nice girls experience--and when Deenie is aroused by boyfriend Bud she is emotionally ripped apart by what she perceives as the division between "good girls" that men marry and "bad girls" that men play with. Bud, likewise under parental influence, drops Deenie in favor of a good time girl, but he also feels the hypocrisy involved, particularly when his own sister is distinctly wild and especially when he sees Deenie self-destruct into insanity when he abandons her. Ultimately there can be no happy ending, only recovery, deeper understanding, and a letting go of a relationship that was not ultimately possibly for either partner.

Leslie does not so much adapt Inge's story, characters, and dialogue as he recreates them for the stage, indicating how they are to be played out. He also eliminates scenes that were purely cinematic and replaces them whatever dialogue is necessary to fill the gap: such memorable moments from the film as Deenie adrift in the river cannot, of course, be played out on the stage. The end result is technically the same characters with the same story but it somehow lacks the power of the film and is distinctly lacking Inge's truly stinging background statement on social hypocrisy. Not a bad script, and no doubt one that can indeed be staged in a memorable way. But I cannot imagine that any staging of it would equal, much less surpass, the grand power of the original film.

No Subject

I do not know if this is the book I am looking for! I saw the movie Splendor In The Grass with Natalie Wood & Warren Beatty and I loved the poem. I always wanted to get the poem from that movie. It is such a moving piece. To get the poem I would either like to purchase the book or purchase the writer's works. I don't know which is better. Maybe he wrote even better poems that I would like. So maybe I should just get the author's works.After I get established or read the books then I will send a review. Thank you. Julia Reid

Thugs, Guns, Drugs, Industry and a quest for Knowledge

For those unaware of Mobb Deep, this is a group that rose in the mid-90's or "second golden era" of hip-hop. At the time, they brought to the table a mix of aggression, introspection, and street logic to their craft that set them apart from their peers. The combination of Havoc's beats and Prodigy's high level of street rhyming had them ranked as high-echelon rappers among fans and peers. Though their theme of crime-life was common at the time, their particular style set them apart as it was much more detailed, felt more "real", and gave a deeper look into the mind of the street thug waiting to rob you. Most of this was credited to Prodigy's unique voice and serious way of rhyming, and is confirmed by sound bytes of Prodigy's various quotes being sampled and sprinkled in the songs of countless rappers to date.

I usually stay away from autobiographies written by rap figures, because in the macho world of rap, there's a high chance of making themselves look like Superman and/or constantly altering supposedly true events. In this book, Prodigy is brutally honest -- I would say SHOCKINGLY honest at times about himself and others and it is a wonder how some of his friends that he mentions even agreed to let him include some of things written about them. THAT is the charm of this book.

My Infamous Life is a highly detailed account of Prodigy's life who wrote it while serving three years in prison on a gun charge. Starting from birth and health complications that began shortly thereafter, P introduces us to many of his family members and childhood friends and his exploits with them. His father and especially his grandmother led very interesting and eye-opening lives, for better or worse, and his experiences and learnings from them have largely shaped his mindset and way of life.

He goes on to explain his experiences as a youth that couldn't be involved in physical activities as a kid like his peers, bouncing between rural Long Island and inner-city Queens, his early love for hip-hop and how he had to survive as a teen. Prodigy goes into interesting detail explaining meeting Havoc, how he ended up in Queensbridge Projects and how he lived while there, and introduces to his friends from QB, many of which you've heard or heard of if you're fan of Mobb Deep or 90's Queensbridge rap.

We go into how he and Havoc became "Poetical Prophets" and later Mobb Deep, how they got equipment, their work ethic, street life, the influences of their people, and notable events that occured around the makings of all their albums. This is all interweaved with tales of in depth tales of family life, beatdowns, slicings, parties, tours, groupies, heavy drug use, run-ins with notable street thugs & gangsters, numerous altercations with other rappers (who are mentioned by name), incidents with movie stars and r&b chicks, personal tragedies, spurts of englightenment, and even visions of spirits and an encounter with a UFO. On top of all that, he interjects occasionally with briefs commentaries on his life in prison.

For those wondering.. yes, Prodigy gives his thoughts about the conflicts with Jay-Z and Nas, and mentions incidents between them that were previously unknown. The book also exposes certain levels of strife that were present within the Mobb Deep circle, and answers questions numerous fans had about certain decisions made by the group.

Fans of Mobb Deep or those interested in urban street stories should definately give this one a check out. 5-star rating for honesty.

My Infamous Life written by Prodigy, is insightful and real. Prodigy takes you into his world and you feel as if you are going down memory lane right with him. The book has Many Many Lows, however as Prodigy explained he was child for 16-17 years and he has now seen the negative impacts of his decisions as a grown man. I hope that this book gets into the hands to many young people who have chosen a wayward life as he explains that his decisions did not lead him in the place he deserved. This book is coming from a person whose life was destined to be great, had opportunites not afforded to many. Yet and still got into the rap game and still chose the wrong paths. This from a person who could've had the world at its feet, still ended up doing foolish things. If you have a child who has chosen the wrong paths in life, this is a book for them. However, this book is real grimey, very street, and hood. Prodigy is the REAL DEAL in regards to the streets. The way he describes things will insight a child who is eager to do the wrong things or want to make a name for him/herself. Prodigy does not hold back on the details of the dirt, hurt, harm, and danger he caused. So please be mindful of the contents if sharing this book with a young impressionable person. In regards to his place in hip hop, there is no doubt that he could've been up there with NAS, Jay-Z, Tupac, or Biggie. He brings us a close insight of his aspect of the media made war of the east coast vs west coast drama that had taken the lives of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. If you want to know from his aspect of the rap game and business, this is a book to pick up and read. I hope that this book touches others but that Prodighy continues to live a life of peace and proseperity and gets back to rhyming just to show these newbies in the game what a real MC with real life situations is all about. Defintely this is a must read!

Insight behind the Murda Muzic

If you've followed Mobb Deep over the years, you'll find this an incredible insight behind the music. It brings so much context to the creative process and the trials and tribulations around these songs. You'll learn why some albums were darker than others - as family members passed away, friends got locked up, charges were brought up. Also who the lyrics were aimed at at though public and private beefs.

It's a solid read, perhaps not the most eloquent but definitely a page turner. My only issue is, so many crew members come and go (all with crazy nicknames) it's sometimes hard to keep track of who's who. Maybe that's the point?

Since releasing the book Prodigy has come under fire from his peers for dry snitching (telling tales which incriminate others indirectly) and also for embellishment. Overall I got the impression it's how he remembers it and this isn't a made up lifestyle. He's lived through it and admits a lot of wrong doing.
